New Florida Vessel Registration Fees Effective July 1, 2008

“The Pinellas Tax Collector will process July, August, or September early renewals at the old rate if paid before July 1, 2008,” says Pinellas Tax Collector Deputy.

The Florida Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) has published the new fee schedule for Florida Vessel Registration, effective July 1, 2008.

Class 2        26 feet or more and less than 40 feet: from $50.50 to $78.25.

Applicable county fees, service fees and other charges remain the same.

The Tax Collector encourages consumers to take advantage of the three-month early renewal option whenever a fee increase deadline is looming.  Vessel owners, like vehicle owners, must renew their annual registrations by midnight of their birthday, and may do so three months earlier.  That means vessel owners with birthdays in July, August, or September may begin renewing now.

“Because of the advance time it takes to prepare, print, and stuff the annual renewal notices, it will take time for a new batch with the new fees to work their way into the system”, says Pinellas Communication Deputy Tax Collector Sam McClelland.  “In any case, taxpayers do not need to wait to have a physical renewal notice in hand to process a renewal.  We can search by the owner’s name or the FL number of the vessel, and the Pinellas Tax Collector will process July, August, or September early renewals at the old rate if paid before July 1, 2008.
