Since 1949, the Treasure Island Fire Department has been providing first response to fire, emergency medical and hazardous condition incidents. Our Department consists of full-time firefighter / paramedics, fire officers and with volunteer support, maintains the station, equipment and inspects hydrants throughout the City.
The Treasure Island Fire Department is equipped with two modern Class A 1250 gpm pumpers, a new 4-wheel drive quick response rescue vehicle, 4-wheel drive utility vehicle, 4-wheel drive fire chief’s vehicle, portable pump trailer, and a beautifully restored 1927 American LaFrance pumper. We are permanently staffed twenty-four hours a day, every day. Our Department has the distinction of being the first in Pinellas County to provide advanced life support services in 1974. We currently have a fire ISO rating of a 4.
In addition to our own department staff and equipment, a county-wide automatic aid agreement provides TI with an engine and ladder truck from neighboring departments on all first alarm structure fire responses. Responses to EMS calls are made using our on-duty personnel in an Advanced Life Support vehicle. Sunstar, the county's ambulance contractor, provides patient transportation to a medical facility, if required.
