Our volunteer program is one of the few remaining in Pinellas County. Volunteers provide an additional response above the automatic aid units and usually permit the return of outside agencies earlier. During natural disasters, volunteers are an additional resource.
The volunteers also play an important part in overall department funding and, accordingly, emergency capabilities.
Treasure Island Fire Department Volunteers conduct fundraising through an annual campaign with a letter delivered door-to-door to residents and mailed to businesses.
We do NOT make telephone solicitations. No "professional" fund-raisers are used in any way. (If you receive a phone call or if you receive a letter asking for fire department contributions to be sent anywhere but directly to City Hall, call us to eliminate the confusion.)
All funds collected are used to support the department and the city. These funds are used for the purchase of uniforms and protective gear for the members, for improvements to the vehicles and to purchase special equipment for the fire department.
Over the past twenty years, in excess of $320,000 has been donated from the volunteers’ efforts, the Treasure Island Memorial Fund, the Treasure Islettes, and various other donors.
If you would like to help by contributing to the annual fund or to memorialize a loved one or friend, please call Chief Fant at 547-4590.
