ELECTION DAY IS MARCH 13th
Ballot mailings for the March 13 Treasure Island Elections are tentatively scheduled for February 7, 2012.To request a mail ballot, visit www.votepinellas.com, call (727) 464-VOTE (464-8683), or email absentee@votepinellas.com. Daily ballot requests and ballot mailing updates are posted to the Supervisor of Elections Web site, www.votepinellas.com, under the Current Elections tab, once mailings begin.
SPRING BREAK RULES GO INTO EFFECT There's a "no drinking" stretch of beach in Treasure Island, from the first weekend in February to the last weekend in September. In this area, primariliy in Sunset Beach from 95th Avenue southward to 85th Avenue, alcohol consumption on the beach is prohibited on Saturdays, Sundays, Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day, from 8am to 4pm.
CANDIDATE DEBATES FEBRUARY 24th
Five candidates, two in District 2 and three in District 4, will dress nicely and answer all your questions at the Candidates Debate on Friday, February 24th at TI City Hall. The gabfest starts at 6pm, hosted by Frank McConnell of TI Voter's Watch. It will be on TITV615, too.
A FEW CHANGES IN EACH DISTRICT
The lines have been rearranged just a bit in the once-every-ten-years redisticting of Treasure Island, and most residents will remain in the same district. But there are a few changes, and some residents will find they are now represented by a different commissioner. See the new map here.
BEACH TRAIL IMPROVEMENT PLAN Here we go, it's finally happening ... the long awaited, much yakked-about, Beach Trail redesign and improvement plan. Click on the above link for a pdf showing trail sketches, construction schedule and planned pathway of the new trail. Design is 60% complete, with construction scheduled for Summer 2012.
FLEE THE COUNTRY THRU TI CITY HALL You can get your passport and passport renewals (if passport is expired for 5 or more years) Monday through Friday from 9am to 4pm at Treasure Island City Hall, 120 108th Avenue. Appointments are strongly recommended and can be made by calling 727-547-4575 ext. 221 or 223.
