City wins federal land use lawsuit
In what had become known as "the halfway house" lawsuit, Judge Moody ruled Wednesday in favor of the City’s position. In a 29-page opinion, Judge Moody stated, “Schwarz repeatedly evaded the City’s inquiries regarding the use of the properties and made every effort to frustrate and delay the enforcement.”

The Treasure Island Chamber of Commerce with the City of Treasure Island host the Seventh Annual "Canadian American Week" October 5th to October 11 th, 2007. $10 tickets for the “Can-Am” Thanksgiving Dinner at the TI Community Center on Monday, October 8th are available at the Treasure Island Chamber of Commerce office, 144 107th Avenue in downtown Treasure Island. Free concert under the gazebo from the A.N. Myer and Westlane High Scool Band begin at 3:30pm.

Beach water advisory remains in effect for Treasure Island
The Pinellas County Health Department has issued an advisory for the water along Treasure Island beach after tests indicated a slightly elevated presence of enteric bacteria, which may come from storm-water runoff, pets, wildlife and sewage. The water could be a potential health risk to swimmers.Click here for Pinellas County Water Quality Reports.


Mike Wichman retires; Neal Schwartz appointed Building Official
Wichman recently left after seven years directing Treasure Island's 7-member department to enjoy a well-deserved retirement at his Spring Hill, Florida home. As Community Improvement Director, he was also the city’s Building Official. Replacing Mike in that capacity is Deputy Building Official Neal Schwartz, who City Manager Reid Silverboard appointed the duties and title of Building Official.

Surviving the Storm, Pinellas County's official hurricane guide, is now available at Treasure Island's City Hall, Police and Fire Stations, Treasure Bay Golf & Tennis, libraries and Pinellas County Wal-Mart locations. Local associations can pick up multiple copies at city hall. You can download an online copy by clicking here.
