Fourteen days into the far-off,
futuristic year 2009 and everyone - yep, everyone, all
7,450 residents (and most of the tourists on the island who can
carry a tune) - hums "Anticipation," the great Carly Simon ketchup
commercial song. Now, in reader-friendly bullet-point style, we
bring you why we're all humming with 2009
anticipation:
Call us Carly Simon because that's a
lot to hum about.
The
Islettes are always in fashion All the pretty
flowers in downtown TI are there because of the Treasure Islettes.
Fresh off HollyFest, where they raised over 3 grand for pretty
posies and beautification, the Islettes are at it again with the
Treasure Islettes Fashion Show and Luncheon on February 7th at the
Community Center. Tix are only $10 at the TI Chamber office. Or give
Millie Fant a call at 367-1301.

As host city
for Relay
For Life for the Gulf Beaches, it's important cancer survivors
and Relay volunteers (many whom are both) mingle
extensively. A superb mingling moment is at the Friendly
Fisherman in John's Pass Village on Thursday, January 15th at
6:30pm. Learn about the Relay, hear fundraising ideas and share your
survivor experience. Oh, and there's food and door prizes, too.
Details at 727-812-7009.
That's a signpost up ahead:
your next stop: the Rotary Challenge!
There we are - golfing or playing tennis on a fine
February weekend at Treasure Bay -
and at the same time, we're fundraising for the TI
kid's programs. "How can this be?" we ask ourselves
in one of those dreamy Twilight Zone whispers. Relax, Rod Serling,
it's just the 10th
Annual Gulf Beaches Rotary Golf and Tennis Challenge. Every
year, this event raises thousands of dollars for TI's Junior golf
and tennis. There's a party on Friday, February 20th and the
actual golfing/tennising on Saturday the 21st. Click on the link
above for the poster, entry form and to enter the Rotary
Zone.
