The end
of an era Tonight, after 12 years of service (6
years as mayor) Mary Maloof wraps up her government career.
This is not a sad time, nor a happy time: the end of an era
marks the beginning of a new one. We surely welcome the inevitable
seasons of change, but we lament the seasons past that we can
never go to again.
In a long career anywhere, you
meet people who forget you. You forget people you meet. But
sometimes you meet those people you can't forget. Those are your
friends. Mary Maloof is, and will always be, a friend of Treasure
Island. Tonight, March 17th: Farewell
Reception for Mary Maloof, 5pm, TI City Hall, followed by
swearing-in ceremony of Mayor Bob Minning and Commissioners Carol
Coward and Phil Collins shortly after 6pm.
We get
letters (emails,
actually) about all kinds of things. Today, we answer some of your
mail. S.L. of Ontario: Just wanted to let
you know that I find the newsletters very entertaining!!! The
graphics are wonderful!! The only problem is that when I read them,
I wish I was there!! Thank you, S.L., for the
warm sentiments and all seven exclamation
points. A.H. of Madeira Beach:
I wish I could write with such a
great sense of humor. Where do you get your
material? We
get our material at The Yarn Barn on US 19. F.L.
writes:Great site except the section where people are
slapping one another – I think we have enough violence in the world.
It was a real turn off. If website cartoon violence causes violence in the
streets, then website comedy should cause comedy in
the streets. P.H. of Ontario: Under current
weather on your main page, it still shows me stats from Feb
18th. We enjoyed the weather so much that day, we
decided to keep it. Actually, our aging weather station
software took a dive. Check out our new weather page here
. We now stream Treasure Island weather data to Weather
Underground and NOAA. S.C.
writes: I also like humor but
found a few comments in this months newsletter not in the best of
taste. I am sure you know which ones I mean. Try to do better
please. You'll be happy to know we no
longer shop at The Yarn Barn.
