Finding a celebrity not dead this week is like looking for an Argentine mistress on the Appalachian Trail: ain't gonna happen, guvnor. So let us break away from blanket coverage of Elvis' son-in-law and get straight-away to the lively details of the Treasure Island Beach Blast this Friday and Saturday. Sure, we got fireworks on the 4th, but we've expanded the party (much like the Gulf of Mexico expands when heated, now up to a cheery 87 degrees) to include live music, food, drink and parking on the beach. Yep, $10 gets you a prime parking spot Friday or Saturday. Here's the flyer 'splaining everything in red, white and blue glory.

Four things about trash collection this week
1. There is no trash collection on Friday, July 3rd
2. Friday trash day moves to Thursday, July 2nd
3. Thursday trash day moves to Wednesday, July 1st
4. Trash collectors will not haul away bags of uncounted Iranian     ballots [print the 2009 trash collection schedule]

You know nothing about golf, yet have an itch (perhaps more than an itch - maybe a yearning) to learn golf. Well, we can scratch that itch (and smile politely in the direction of the yearning) with S.N.A.G. It's Starting New At Golf, a fun family golfing event using modified golf equipment that delivers great results without resorting to sophisticated cheating methods developed by exclusive country clubs. Golf Pro Gary Metzger and the Florida Sports Foundation host SNAG on Saturday, July 11th at Treasure Bay, 10315 Paradise Boulevard. Family groups and kids 6 and up play at 5:30 with an introductory lesson at 5pm. The event is FREE and there's a hot dog and hamburger cookout, too. Gary has the details at 727-360-6062.
