Engaged to the water, we Treasure Islanders are, at every turn. When you're surrounded by it, it's almost impossible not to be engaged, let alone married, to the water. (In California, it could also be a civil union with the water). This season, about 74 presumably married sea turtles have made nests, from Pass-a-Grille to Clearwater Beach, doubling the total nest count from last year, including five turtle nests on Treasure Island. Scientists from the Clearwater Marine Aquarium (very married to water, we'd say) monitor the turtle nests. If you should spot a new sea turtle nest while beachwalking, call their Sea Turtle Hotline: 727-441-1790 x224.

Very much engaged with the water (up to their knees in engagement, in fact) are the crews working on the Treasure Island Boat Ramp upgrades. They'll finish and reopen the 123rd Avenue ramp next week; the 100th Avenue boat ramp will close Monday 7/14 for about two weeks.

Digital document policy begins this month
The City of Treasure Island Community Improvement Department will begin requiring all submitted plans and drawings in a digital format, A CD or DVD will do just fine, using jpegs for photographs and a .pdf, .tif or .dwg for plans and drawings. This digital requirement does not change any City requirements for document hard copies and the CD or DVD becomes property of the City of Treasure Island. Your questions? Answered!
