Elnor Island cleanup gets underway
Volunteers needed Saturday, May 10th to help remove marine debris from the John’s Pass mangrove key. Volunteers should bring their own work gloves, sunscreen and bug repellent and rubber-soled shoes or boots. Meet at 8:30am on Saturday, May 10th at the Gator's Marina docks adjacent to Kingfish Park, just past Gator's Cafe & Saloon on Kingfish Drive.

John's Pass Channel closed during early morning hours
As the bridge deck construction progresses on the new John's Pass Bridge, channel closures are necessary Sunday nights through Thursday nights until July 2008. No boats will be permitted to travel under the bridge from 1am to 1:30am and from 10:30am to 11am. Boats that do not require a bridge opening are permitted to travel under the bridge from 1:30am to 10:30am. Click here for the full news release.

Sun, Sand & Swing Saturday, May 24th
Blues, country, swing, Motown, jazz, standards and rock 'n' roll - whatever your musical preference, it's at Sun, Sand & Swing this year, on the beach at 104th Avenue. The musical acts lined up for Treasure Island's Memorial Weekend Beach Jam are:

  • Suncoast Dixieland Jazz Band - 3:45pm
  • Lounge Cat - 5:15pm
  • The Mad Beach Band - 6:45pm
  • Tom Gribbin and the Saltwater Cowboys - 8:15pm
  • The Greg Billings Band - 9:45pm
