The Dos & Don’ts of Micromobility in Treasure Island
Micromobility is an emerging form of transportation that provides an easy and affordable way for people to move around for short point-to-point trips and is experiencing rapid growth. Micromobility typically refers to a range of small, lightweight vehicles operating at speeds typically below 20 mph and consists of devices such as e-bikes, electric scooters, electric skateboards, shared bicycles, and electric pedal-assisted bicycles.

Can I ride on the beach sand?
- No, micromobility devices are prohibited from operating on the beach.
- Micromobility devices are permitted to operate on the Beach Trail at a speed of no more than 10 mph.
Where can I ride?
- Micromobility devices are allowed to operate within bike lanes, if available, on shared-use paths, designated by the city, and upon streets with a posted speed limit of 35 mph or less.
- Micromobility devices are permitted to operate on the Beach Trail at a speed of no more than 10 mph.
- Micromobility devices using bike lanes, shared-use paths, Beach Trail or streets must operate on the right-hand side of the bike lanes, shared-use paths, or streets and in the same direction as the traffic flow.
- Micromobility devices are permitted only on sidewalks along West Gulf Boulevard (Sunset Beach area) where the posted speed limit is less than 35 mph.

Where am I not allowed to ride?
- The riding of micromobility devices is prohibited upon any sidewalk within the city or any area designated by the city where notice is posted.
- Micromobility devices are permitted on the sidewalks on West Gulf Boulevard (Sunset Beach area) where the posted speed limit is less than 35 mph.
Are there age restrictions?
- No person under the age of 16 years old shall operate a rented micromobility device on Gulf Boulevard or Causeway Boulevard where the posted speed limit is 35 mph or more.
Are helmets required?
- Any person under the age of 16 years old operating a micromobility device (personal device) must wear a helmet that is properly fitted and fastened securely upon the operator’s head by a strap and that meets the federal safety standard for bicycle helmets.
Where can I park?
- All micromobility devices must be parked in designated bike racks or parking corrals when parked on public property.
Maximum speeds?
- All micromobility devices within the city are limited to a maximum speed of 15 miles per hour.
- On the Beach Trail, the maximum speed limit is 10 miles per hour.
