The city of Treasure Island to Host a Flood Insurance Seminar

The city of Treasure Island will host a Flood Insurance Seminar to provide an overview of flood insurance information, upcoming changes to FEMA’s Flood Insurance Rate Maps, and Risk Rating 2.0 (FEMA’s new rating methodology). The seminar will cover how these changes will affect flood insurance premiums and property valuations for property owners, renters, and business owners throughout Treasure Island. Those interested in learning more are invited to attend the seminar on Aug. 18 at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 120 108th Ave.

Flood mapping is an important part of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), as it is the basis of development regulations and flood insurance requirements. Guest speakers will include Jim Everett of Risk Management Planning, LLC, Jake Holehouse of HH Insurance, and Mike Twitty, Pinellas County Property Appraiser.
