City Commission Recognizes Treasure Island Fire Rescue Employees For Outstanding Work

The City Commission recognized the following Treasure Island Fire Rescue employees for their outstanding work at the April 5 Commission meeting.

Lieutenant Steven Rowland and Firefighter/Paramedic Jordan Dahlstrom
L..t Rowland and Firefighter Dahlstrom deployed to the Florida Panhandle as part of a strike team from our region that assisted communities in protecting homes and businesses from wildfires. They assisted local fire departments with structure protection on both the Atkins Street Fire and the 30,000 acre Bertha Swamp Fire. For their actions, they were awarded the Exemplary Fire Performance Award.

Firefighter/Paramedic Troy Turner
FF Turner recognized that the emergency lighting on our high water vehicle, Brush 24, was inadequate and proposed the addition of warning lights and a PA/Siren. Firefighter Turner used parts on hand and minimal new items to upgrade the emergency lighting and add a siren, completing all of the work on shift, in addition to his regularly assigned duties. For his actions to improve the department's equipment and provide a safer working environment for all, Turner was awarded the Meritorious Service Award.
