Dewatering of groundwater is required for the rehabilitation of Lift Station #10

As part of the rehabilitation of Lift Station #10 located at the corner of Capris Circle North and 2nd Street East. Dewatering of groundwater is required to replace pipes and valves.  The dewatering operation is creating a strong sulfur (rotten egg) smell and red staining of concrete and asphalt.

Hydrogen sulfide gas also occurs naturally in groundwater. It is formed from decomposing underground deposits of organic matter such as decaying plant material.  The red staining is from the oxidation of iron.

Dewatering will last for approximately 4 weeks.
