Isle of Palms Park Closed February 20-March 10, 2023

In 1981, the City of Treasure Island entered into a 100-year lease with the original property owners to construct a park for the Isle of Palms neighborhood referred to as Triangle Park. In August 2018, the City of Treasure Island purchased the property from the original owners' heirs to keep as a neighborhood park. In September 2022, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection notified the City that a grant submitted in 2018 was awarded from the Florida Communities Trust 2018-19 Funding Cycle as funds had become available when another project sponsor withdrew their application. The City is approved for the original amount of the application of $286,024.20 for seventy percent of the original purchase price. Acceptance of the grant will require the forever use of the Isle of Palms Park as open/green/recreation space.

Upgrades and Amenities Completed in Fiscal Year 2022 include the installation of a new dog waste station; an ADA accessible water fountain with pet accessible bowl; landscape improvements and purchase of Adirondack chairs, bicycle rack, trash cans, picnic table and benches.

Upgrades and Amenities in Fiscal Year 2023 include new playground and exercise equipment tentatively scheduled for installation in March. Once the playground installation is complete, a fence around the playground will be installed as well as the fence on the northeast end of the property. Staff will be removing the shuffleboard court and replacing with grass. A new bus stop shelter for the school children will be purchased to replace the existing bus stop. Additional Adirondack chairs, picnic tables and benches will be added.

The Isle of Palms playground will be closed from March 6 through approximately March 17, 2023 for the installation of the new playground.
